Artist, printmaker, professor of art, and visionary voice Margo Humphrey has created a body of work that is a personal chronicle of her life, family, loves, fears, and joys. Her exhuberant imagery addresses subjects ranging from personal memory and African American culture to food, religion, music, and relationships.

To some, Humphrey may appear to be a race-based artist. To others, her work exhibits a boisterous sense of unlikeness, the ind of individual statement that one wishes to see in a mature mind. She uses printmaking as an inventive stylistic expression without modernism. Race is indeed an important element in Humphrey's work, but it is not always presented as such. The human experience is the captivating force in her art. This experience embraces love, hope, and a wonderous pusuit of spirituality.

Margo Humphrey is currently Head of Printmaking at the University of Maryland at College Park. Margo Humphrey's work are for sale online now. Please feel free to peruse this website to experience the body of Humphrey's work.
